Florida mansion raid leads to arrest of rapper Sean Kingston and his mother on fraud & theft charges

Sean Kingston arrested by SWAT

According to the Broward County Sheriff's Office, Kingston was arrested without incident near Fort Irwin, an Army base located approximately 150 miles northeast of Los Angeles. The arrest followed a raid earlier in the day by the Broward County Sheriff's Office and Davie Police SWAT at the luxurious property in Southwest Ranches, a suburb of Fort Lauderdale known for its celebrity residents. The investigation, which began in nearby Dania Beach, led to the arrest of Kingston's mother, Janice Turner, 61, on multiple fraud and theft charges.(@ )

Authorities were seen loading goods into a van outside the mansion, which was surrounded by expensive sports cars.

Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Anderson, took to Instagram following the raid, posting, "People love negative energy! I am good and so is my mother! My lawyers are handling everything as we speak."The rapper, known for his 2007 hit "Beautiful Girls," was expected to be booked into jail in San Bernardino, about 60 miles east of Los Angeles, pending extradition to Florida.(@ )

His attorney, Robert Rosenblatt, expressed confidence in resolving the charges favorably for Kingston and his mother, stating, "We are aware of some of the allegations being made against the two. We look forward to addressing these in court and are confident of a successful resolution for Shawn and his mother."

Kingston is currently serving a two-year probation for trafficking stolen property, according to the Florida Department of Corrections.

His mother, who previously served time for bank fraud in 2006, was held at Broward jail on a $160,000 bond.

The arrests may be connected to a lawsuit against Kingston, filed by attorney Dennis Card, alleging fraud over a 232-inch television installation worth $150,000.(@ )

Card accused Kingston of defrauding the Florida company by failing to make promised payments and commercials, despite an initial $30,000 payment.
