17% of Americans believe they could beat a chimpanzee in a fight.

17% of Americans believe they could beat a chimpanzee in a fight.

A survey found that 17% of Americans believe they could beat a chimpanzee in a fight, despite the fact that chimpanzees are significantly stronger than humans. While this belief may stem from underestimating the strength and agility of chimps, in reality, these animals possess extraordinary physical power and can be very dangerous in close encounters. The idea of humans prevailing in such a fight is highly unlikely.

(+

)

The belief that 17% of Americans think they could defeat a chimpanzee in a fight might be surprising, considering the vast differences in strength and physical abilities between humans and chimps. Chimps are up to five times stronger than the average adult human, especially in terms of muscle density and explosive power. They have sharp teeth, strong jaws, and a natural instinct for aggression, which they use effectively in the wild to protect themselves and their group.

This misconception likely comes from a lack of understanding about chimpanzees' physical capabilities, or perhaps an overestimation of human strength. Chimps are capable of extreme bursts of speed and can cause severe injury with their bites and powerful arms. They also have an aggressive, unpredictable nature when they feel threatened.

(+

)

In reality, the outcome of such an encounter would almost certainly be disastrous for the human. The 17% who believe they could win are likely misjudging the situation, possibly influenced by portrayals of animals in media or a misplaced confidence in human abilities.

Italian World Cup striker Schillaci dies aged 59

**Italian World Cup Striker Totò Schillaci Dies Aged 59**

Salvatore "Totò" Schillaci, the hero of Italy's 1990 FIFA World Cup campaign, has died at the age of 59. Schillaci, who captured the hearts of football fans around the globe during Italy’s run to the semifinals, passed away after a brief illness, according to his family.

Schillaci became an international sensation during the 1990 World Cup, held on home soil in Italy. Though relatively unknown outside of Italy before the tournament, Schillaci’s electric performances saw him win the tournament’s Golden Boot, scoring six goals, including crucial strikes that led Italy to the semifinals. His iconic celebrations, marked by wide-eyed exuberance, became a symbol of Italy's campaign, though they eventually finished third.

Born in Palermo in 1964, Schillaci started his professional career at Messina before moving to Juventus in 1989. It was at Juventus where his talent truly began to shine, earning him a call-up to the national team just before the 1990 World Cup. His explosive World Cup performances were the pinnacle of his international career, as he would only play a few more matches for Italy before fading from the international scene.

Following his time at Juventus, Schillaci had a brief spell with Inter Milan before eventually moving to Japan, where he became one of the first European stars to play in the J-League with Jubilo Iwata.

Schillaci's impact extended beyond the football pitch. His story of a relatively unknown player rising to global fame in a matter of weeks became a testament to the unpredictability and magic of the World Cup.

Tributes have poured in from the football community, with former teammates and fans remembering him as a symbol of hope, passion, and excitement during a time of great anticipation for Italian football.

Former Middlesbrough Star Becomes Joint-Holder of LaLiga Record that Even Lionel Messi Couldn't Break

(

In an era dominated by the footballing brilliance of Lionel Messi, few players have managed to etch their names into LaLiga's illustrious history. However, former Middlesbrough star Christian Stuani has achieved an impressive feat that even the Argentine maestro couldn't surpass. The Uruguayan forward, who once graced the Riverside Stadium, has now become a joint-holder of one of LaLiga’s longstanding records—an accomplishment that speaks volumes about his enduring impact in Spain's top flight.

Stuani’s Journey to LaLiga Fame

Christian Stuani's footballing journey took him through various clubs and leagues, but it was in LaLiga where he truly found his footing. After a relatively modest spell in the Premier League with Middlesbrough, where he netted 16 goals in 66 appearances, Stuani returned to Spain in 2017 to join Girona FC. It was here that his career reached new heights.

In Girona's rise and subsequent seasons in LaLiga, Stuani became their talisman, consistently delivering goals and leading the line with poise and power. Despite Girona's relegation in 2019, Stuani remained loyal to the club, guiding them in the Segunda División before their return to LaLiga.

The Unbreakable Record

The LaLiga record Stuani now shares is for scoring at least 20 goals in consecutive seasons for a newly promoted team—an astonishing feat considering the competition and quality of defenses in Spain. While Messi has broken countless records, including most goals in a calendar year and most Ballon d'Or titles, even he never had the unique challenge of achieving such a milestone with a recently promoted side.

Stuani’s ability to score consistently, even against LaLiga’s giants like Real Madrid and Barcelona, has solidified his reputation as one of the league's most dependable goal-scorers. His impressive tally during Girona's campaigns, both before and after their brief spell in the second tier, saw him match the record held by Spanish legend Diego Milito. Milito had previously set the benchmark in the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons while playing for Real Zaragoza.

Outshining the Greats

(
+)

While Messi’s legacy in LaLiga is untouchable, the record Stuani now holds showcases the Uruguayan’s resilience and adaptability. He has managed to thrive in different circumstances—whether leading a team fighting for survival or helping them push for promotion.

His physical style, combined with his sharp instincts in the box, made him the focal point of Girona’s attack, while his experience brought calmness to his team in critical moments. It’s a testament to Stuani’s professionalism and skill that he could achieve this record, competing in the same league where Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Karim Benzema once ruled.

A Legacy of His Own

For Christian Stuani, becoming a joint-holder of this remarkable LaLiga record serves as a crowning achievement in a career defined by persistence, versatility, and a nose for goal. While he may never reach the dizzying heights of fame that players like Messi enjoy, his contribution to Spanish football and his unique place in the league’s history are undeniable.

As Girona continues to compete in LaLiga, Stuani’s role as both a player and mentor to the younger generation will likely ensure his name is remembered long after he retires. In a footballing world obsessed with superstars, Stuani's story is a reminder that hard work, determination, and consistency can carve out a legacy that even the greats would admire.

Manifesting a giant breakpoint green candle

()

**Manifesting a Giant Breakpoint Green Candle: A Turning Point in the Market**

In the volatile world of financial markets, technical analysis has become a crucial tool for traders and investors alike. Among the myriad of patterns and indicators used to gauge market sentiment, the "giant breakpoint green candle" stands as a powerful signal of market reversal or a major breakout. Manifesting such a candle is often seen as a pivotal moment, one that can shape the near-term trajectory of an asset. But what does it mean, and how can traders identify and act on this pattern?

### What is a Giant Breakpoint Green Candle?

A giant breakpoint green candle refers to a large, bullish candlestick on a price chart that signifies a significant increase in buying pressure. This candle typically follows a period of consolidation or downward movement, and its size and volume suggest a dramatic shift in market sentiment.

In candlestick charting, the color green is often associated with upward movement, as the closing price is higher than the opening price. When this candle appears after a period of sideways or downward movement, it can signal a potential breakout, indicating that the market is about to turn bullish. The "breakpoint" aspect refers to the level at which previous resistance is broken, allowing the asset to surge upward.

### The Anatomy of a Giant Green Candle

To better understand the implications of a giant breakpoint green candle, it’s important to break down its key components:

1. **Large Body**: The size of the candle matters. A giant green candle is significantly larger than the candles that precede it, indicating a strong influx of buying power. Its body (the difference between the open and close prices) is large, showing that the bulls are firmly in control.

2. **High Volume**: Volume is the confirmation needed to validate the candle's significance. A giant green candle with low volume might indicate a false breakout. Conversely, when accompanied by heavy trading volume, it suggests widespread participation in the upward move.

3. **Breaking Resistance**: The "breakpoint" is a critical level of resistance that the price has struggled to overcome. This could be a previous high, a psychological price level, or a trendline. The giant green candle breaking through this level is what makes it a powerful signal of future price movement.

### How to Spot a Breakpoint Green Candle

For those new to technical analysis or those refining their strategies, identifying this pattern is relatively simple, yet interpreting its broader market implications can be nuanced. Here are the steps to spot and capitalize on a giant breakpoint green candle:

1. **Identify Key Levels of Resistance**: Look for price levels where the asset has historically struggled to break through. This could be prior highs, a moving average, or Fibonacci retracement levels. These are areas where a breakout is more likely to be significant.

2. **Monitor Volume**: As the price approaches the resistance level, monitor the trading volume. A breakout with increased volume is much more reliable than one with low volume.

3. **Watch for Confirmation**: After the appearance of a giant green candle, it's essential to wait for some form of confirmation, such as follow-through buying in the next few candles. This ensures the breakout is legitimate and not a false signal.

### Manifesting a Breakpoint Candle: The Psychological Component

Beyond the technical aspects of trading, many traders believe in the power of mindset and psychology when it comes to market success. Manifesting a giant breakpoint green candle is more than just waiting for the right conditions; it's about positioning yourself mentally and emotionally to capitalize on the opportunity.

1. **Patience and Discipline**: Not every price movement is worth chasing. Manifesting a breakout means having the patience to wait for the right setup and the discipline to act when it appears.

2. **Confidence in Your Strategy**: Trust in your technical analysis and trading strategy is key. If you doubt your decisions, you're more likely to hesitate and miss out on prime opportunities.

3. **Visualization**: Some traders use visualization techniques to reinforce positive outcomes. While it's not a guarantee of success, visualizing a breakout can help you remain calm and composed when it occurs, allowing you to take decisive action.

### Conclusion

A giant breakpoint green candle is a powerful signal that can indicate the start of a new bullish trend or a major breakout in the market. For traders and investors, recognizing this pattern and acting accordingly can lead to significant gains. By combining technical analysis with a strong mindset, traders can position themselves to capitalize on these pivotal moments in the market.

However, like any trading strategy, it's essential to exercise caution, use proper risk management, and remain adaptable to changing market conditions. Manifesting a giant breakpoint green candle is not just about reading charts—it's about being mentally and emotionally prepared to seize opportunities when they arise.

Hakeem Jeffries rejects GOP spending bill as ‘unserious and unacceptable’

Hakeem Jeffries rejects GOP spending bill as ‘unserious and unacceptable’

Calling it “unserious and unacceptable,” House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries rejected on Monday a proposal from Speaker Mike Johnson that links continued government funding for six months with a measure to require proof of citizenship when registering to vote.

The response frames the spending battle to come over the next weeks as lawmakers work to reach consensus on a short-term spending bill that would prevent a partial government shutdown when the new fiscal year begins Oct. 1. Lawmakers hope to avoid a shutdown just weeks before voters go to the polls.

Johnson is punting the final decisions on full-year spending into next year when a new president and Congress take over. He’s doing so at the urging of members within his conference who believe that Republicans will be in a better position next year to secure the funding and policy priorities they want.

()

But Jeffries said the appropriations process should be wrapped up before the end of the current calendar year, and the short-term measure should reflect that. It also needs to be free of “partisan policy changes,” Jeffries said.

“There is no other viable path forward that protects the health, safety and economic well-being of hardworking American taxpayers,” Jeffries wrote in a letter to House Democrats released Monday.

Lawmakers are returning to Washington this week following a traditional August recess spent mostly in their home states and districts. They are not close to completing work on the dozen annual appropriations bills that will fund the agencies during the next fiscal year, so they’ll need to approve a stopgap measure.

The House bill including the proof of citizenship mandate for voter registration complicates the effort. The voter registration measure is popular with House Republicans. The House Freedom Caucus, which generally includes the chamber’s most conservative members, called for it to be attached to the spending bill.

Republicans say that requiring proof of citizenship would ensure that U.S. elections are only for American citizens, improving confidence in the nation’s federal election system, something that former President Donald Trump has sought to undermine over the years.

When the House Republican proposal was unveiled on Friday, Johnson called it a critically important step to keep the federal government funded and secure the federal election process.

()

Congress has a responsibility to do both, and we must ensure that only American citizens can decide American elections,” Johnson said.

Opponents say it is already against the law for noncitizens to vote in federal elections and that the document requirements would disenfranchise millions of people who do not have the necessary documents readily available when they get a chance to register.

Trump and other Republicans have revved up their complaints about the issue of noncitizens voting with the influx of migrants across the U.S.-Mexico border under President Joe Biden’s administration. They are contending Democrats let them in to add them to the voter rolls. But the available evidence shows that noncitizen voting in federal elections is incredibly rare.

Senate Democrats have also come out against Johnson’s proposal. And Biden administration officials have also weighed in against the bill. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin warned that long-term continuing resolutions, such as the current one to be voted on in the House this week, harm military readiness.

Austin said in a letter to the chairs and ranking members of the House and Senate Appropriations Committees that, if passed, the bill would mark the second year in a row and the seventh time in the past 15 years that the department is delayed in moving forward with some critical priorities.

“These actions subject Service members and their families to unnecessary stress, empower our adversaries, misalign billions of dollars, damage our readiness, and impede our ability to react to emergent events,” Austin wrote.

Don't forget these plays: Tolbert's alert recovery, CeeDee's run & Garrett's penalty

There are plenty of things to overlook on a day like this, one that began with a mega-contract extension for Dak Prescott.

The Cowboys then proceeded to hammer the Browns on both sides of the ball – and special teams too.

But all games have plays that get lost in the shuffle that could've changed the outcome. Here are some that might not be remembered, but were significant to the final score.

False start on the Browns On Cleveland's first drive of the game, the Browns were on the move and looked to keep it going with a fourth-and-2 attempt at the Cowboys' 28-yard line. But a false start on Jack Conklin, who was trying to get a jump on blocking Micah Parsons, pushed them back 5 yards. After a timeout, Dustin Hopkins kicked a 51-yard field goal for a 3-0 lead. But the penalty prevented the Browns from perhaps getting a touchdown.

()

Jet sweep by Lamb – For a guy that set franchise records in catches last year and is the highest-paid receiver in Cowboys history, leave it to CeeDee Lamb to set the tone of the game … with a run, of course. But with the Cowboys getting off to a slow start offensively, moving backward on their first drive and already committing a penalty on the second, it was a 10-yard run by Lamb that gave the Cowboys a first down. That seemed to calm things down, and the offense proceeded to move down the field. Lamb caught a deep ball, and then Prescott connected with Brandin Cooks for a touchdown.

Tolbert jumps on a loose ball – On the second snap of the second quarter, Prescott was hit by Browns defensive end Myles Garrett on a play that looked like a pass. The ball harmlessly rolled to the right side, but Jalen Tolbert alertly fell on the ball in case it was ruled a fumble. As it turned out, the play was ruled a sack and fumble, and had Tolbert not recovered it, the Browns could've picked it up and possibly scored. The Cowboys eventually punted, but the Browns didn't even get a first down in the second quarter.

()

Browns' offside penalty on the 7 – The Cowboys were nearing the end of a long drive in the second quarter and faced first-and-goal at the Cleveland 7-yard line. Prescott was sacked on first down, but Garrett was flagged for lining up offside. That negated the play and gave the Cowboys the ball at the 3. With the new first down, Ezekiel Elliott got the handoff and scored. Obviously, it's a different set of downs with the ball at the 7 than at the 3. That penalty led to a touchdown, giving the Cowboys a 14-3 lead.

Aubrey's rolling kickoff – In the second quarter, the Cowboys had just scored on a touchdown run by Elliott for a 14-3 lead. And Brandon Aubrey's ensuing kickoff proved to be the perfect scenario. He was able to split the two return men with a line-drive that bounced around the 5-yard line and rolled into the end zone. By the new rules, when the ball lands in the 20-yard landing zone and then rolls in for a touchback, the ball is placed at the 20. The Browns weren't able to get a first down, and the Cowboys then used great field position, starting at their own 44-yard line, to add another field goal.

Overshown slams the door – Late in the third quarter, the Browns were down by 17 but trying to sneak back into the game. On fourth-and-7 near midfield, Deshaun Watson tried to get to the outside for a possible scramble, but linebacker DeMarvion Overshown made up ground quick and erased the angle Watson had, decking the Cleveland quarterback for a sack and turnover on downs. The Cowboys were then able to get a 50-yard field goal by Aubrey for a 30-10 lead.

iPhone 16: Release date, prices and new rumoured features

iPhone 16: Release date, prices and new rumoured features

Apple is expected to reveal four new phone models at a launch event in California

Apple is on Monday poised to unveil its iPhone 16 at an annual launch event in California, as the US tech giant seeks to entice consumers with a raft of new artificial intelligence (AI) features.

At the company’s so-called Glowtime event, Apple is planning to unveil four new iPhone models, as well as new AirPods and a revamped Apple Watch.

Its latest gadgets will be geared to take advantage of the tech giant’s AI software, known as Apple Intelligence.

This is powered by new A18 microchip processors, which analysts hope will trigger a surge in sales.

“This iPhone 16 release is all about Apple Intelligence and the unleashing of the consumer AI revolution,” says Dan Ives, an analyst at Wedbush Securities.

( )

The tech giant will show off its new gadgets at an event at its headquarters in Cupertino, California, starting at 6pm UK time.

Here is everything you need to know ahead of the event.

iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro: rumoured features

While Apple is always tight-lipped ahead of its launch events, the tech giant is expected to debut four new iPhone 16 models.

This includes the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

The iPhone 16 is expected to have a screen size of 6.1 inches, while the Plus will have a 6.7-inch display. The Pro versions will be slightly larger at 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches respectively.

The gadgets will look broadly similar to other iPhones of recent years. The iPhone 16 models will come with a dual rear camera and the Pro variant with a triple rear set-up.

( )

However, all the phones will come with a new “capture” or “camera” button that will act similar to a shutter button on a regular camera – with added touch and swipe functions.

The phones will also include a programmable action button, which can be linked to quick-launch different features.

What is Apple Intelligence and when will it be released?

Alongside its new iPhones, Apple will also be upgrading its smartphone software later this month with iOS 18.

The new software will come with Apple Intelligence, a suite of tools and apps reliant on AI. This will include a revamped Siri digital assistant and a host of writing tools.

This will include AI-powered features that can reply to emails, draft blog posts and presentations, create synthetic artwork and design customised emojis.

( )

Apple Intelligence will also grant users access to ChatGPT, the digital assistant from Silicon Valley start-up OpenAI.

Apple has previously said: “Siri can tap into ChatGPT’s expertise when helpful. Users are asked before any questions are sent to ChatGPT, along with any documents or photos, and Siri then presents the answer directly.”

How much will the iPhone 16 cost?

The iPhone 16’s pricing is widely anticipated to mirror the cost of its previous iPhone 15 model upon launch.

Analysts from TrendForce believe the iPhone16 will start at $799 (£611), while the iPhone 16 Plus will come in at $899. The pricier iPhone 16 Pro will start at $1,099 and the iPhone 16 Pro Max will cost $1,199.

Should its UK price structure remain the same as the iPhone 15, the iPhone 16 will start at £799 in Britain. The iPhone is typically more expensive in the UK owing to taxes and exchange rates.

iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro release date

Following Monday’s launch event, the new iPhone 16 is expected to be available for pre-order from Friday Sept 13, and will then go on full sale a week later on Sept 20.

However, some of the crucial new software features may not be available immediately.

Apple Intelligence is expected to be released in October, while customers in the EU will not get the new software until 2025 because of regulatory delays.

What about the Apple Watch and AirPods?

Apple is also looking to release a new low-end version of its AirPod headphones, the AirPods 4.

It will also debut a revamped version of its larger, over-ear headphones, which will be known as the AirPods Max.

The new Apple Watch X is also expected to be launched, boasting new health features and a slimline design.

How can I watch Apple’s Glowtime event?

Apple’s Glowtime live event is expected to start at 6pm UK time and will be available to watch on Apple’s website and its YouTube channel.
