Israel and Egypt agreed to open the Rafah crossing under US pressure



Israel and Egypt have agreed in principle to reopen the Rafah crossing under US pressure. Under the new arrangement, Israel will withdraw troops from the Rafah crossing and Egypt will send aid to Gaza through it. The standoff erupted after Israeli forces took control of the crossing from the Gaza side earlier this month. A Hebrew media reported this information on Thursday. However, it has not been announced exactly when the relief supplies to Gaza will start from here.( )

According to Israel's Kan media, Israel has agreed to withdraw its troops to reopen the crossing. An international force could take over there. But until then, the Palestinians will control the crossing. But Palestinians who are not involved with Hamas or any resistance movement in Gaza will serve here.( )

Washington-based Axios previously reported that Israel has presented a plan to Egypt. It said they would deploy their troops outside the crossing. And Palestinians unaffiliated with the UN and Hamas will take control of the crossing.

Washington is considering holding a tripartite meeting between Israel, Egypt and the United States next week on the Gaza-Egypt border and the Rafah crossing. Three American and Israeli sources reported this information.
